Outdoor deck; full bar. Serving up what City Scene calls "its own style of coastal pub food... "If the dining is not fine, the attitude is fun, and the food is by-and-large better than average." Oysters every way you could want, from on the halfshell to Rockefeller, Bienville and Po-Boys. You can also get po-boys with shrimp, amberjack, fried slippertail lobster or Jamaican chicken breast. Entrees include soft-shell crab, swordfish, shrimp, amberjack, Jamaican grilled chicken or a chipotle-peppered ribeye. Atmosphere is funky meets Florida coast.

We arrived on a Friday evening for a late dinner. Seated almost immediately, help was friendly, not stifling. This Lakeview District home was renovated to suit our 30-something party of four eagerly seeking oysters on the half shell and fixings as if we were awaiting a beachside catch. The bar is open to the seating area, adorned with hand painted murals of oceanic scenery (I hear the bartender painted them himself). At a cozy four-top table, we ordered oysters on the half shell. As for the bacteria fearing souls (myself), I opted for The Baked Stuffed Oysters Three Ways (Rockefeller, Bienville and Mosca). The oysters were so fresh and tasty; pile on their "own" cocktail sauce, some Tabasco atop a cracker. OH YES. Is there any other way? OUSTANDING choice. You couldn't get them any tastier than in Apalachicola yourself. Dinner anyone? HOLY COW, what a selection. The menu items scream, "pick me, pick me!" I recommend the Grilled Gulf Shrimp served atop fried green tomatoes. What a treat. Try the Crawfish Cakes with JalapeƱo Cheddar Grits and a side of Habanera Pepper Coleslaw. What an escape from the fried seafood platter you love to hate. L.O.H has other items for the landlubber in you, Jamaican Chicken, Mesquite Grilled Steak, and vegetable sides. If you can't find something here to please your palate, order in!(July 2004)

I like this place. The atmosphere is nice and the menu selection is pretty good. There often is a lot of people standing/waiting around which can get annoying if your table is near the door. My biggest complaint is that the food is not consistently good. There is a noticeable difference in the tastiness of the food from one visit to the next. Also, liquour prices are a little high and parking is a nightmare around this place.

I dined there at lunch today and was very please with the food. The server was a bit slow, but not terribly so. The blackened grouper was cooked perfectly, flaky and charred. However, it came with some sort of cream sauce drizzled over it that was not mentioned on the menu. But the sauce didn't affect the flavor of the fish in the least. My lunch companion got the pecan crusted catfish. It was a much smaller portion than my grouper, but it was tasty nonetheless. The flavor of the pecans was very subtle. It too came with the mystery white sauce, which unfortunately made the catfish a bit soggy. The beer-battered onion rings were really onion strings. Tasty, but a bit hard to eat. I ended up eating them like spaghetti - twirling them on my fork. French fries were, well, french fries. Seasoned with a bit of skin left on. Good, but not stellar. The green beans were well seasoned (I detected a hint of bacon) and tasted very fresh. They got cold much quicker than the rest of my food, so I had to abandon them earlier than I'd like. All in all, a good visit. I'll definitely go back.
