Great place for a cheap lunch -- burgers, hot dogs, salads, hot and cold sandwiches. Behind Golden Rule BBQ.

Great prices and a pretty good hot dog. Had the Z-dog and fries. The z-dog is a 1/4 # beef hot dog that was split and then grilled. It came with mustard, onions, kraut, and brown "sauce." Overall, it was a very good hot dog. The fries were pretty good, probably a 6/10. Its nothing fancy, but it was clean, pleaseant, and fast. I'd go back.
I've lived in the Highland Park area for several years, but until recently had never tried Chris Z's. On a whim, I went there for lunch and tried the Filet Steak Sandwich. The sandwich consisted of about 3 slices of 1/4" thick steak, cooked medium. It was the best steak sandwich I have ever tasted! I thought it would literally melt in my mouth - it was that tender. I asked for the sauce on the side. It is a very hot and spicy, mustard-based sauce, but good in moderation. The fries were also very good.
Good, friendly service, too.
Chris has GREAT dogs and burgers but also does a terrific job catering just about anything you want and is so easy to work with. I've used him numerous times and have never been disappointed. His price is unbeatable and he gets rave reviews.
Great Food. I love their Philly Cheese Steaks and Ruebens.
