Hacienda Mexican Grill

4500 Valleydale Road (Hoover/Indian Springs area, at intersection with Caldwell Mill)
980-7771
Overall, the atmosphere and food at Hacienda are a step above the average Birmingham Tex-Mex restaurant. The food tastes fresher and is nicely seasoned, without being greasy. The margaritas are delicious, and a "create-your-own-combo" option makes ordering easier.

Hacienda Mexican Grill may not be fancy but it's great for families. My four year old has declared this dining destination to be his "favorite restaurant in the world". Kids' entrees include real-food options like quesadillas with rice and beans.
Hacienda has authentic cheese-dip that varies from mild to medium daily. I often order their fajita taco salad- hot fajita toppings (onion, bell pepper, your choice of chicken or beef) over lettuce, guacamole and sour cream in an edible bowl. My husband enjoys a full order of fajitas or one of Hacienda's many combination platters.
We have hosted several birthday parties at Hacienda. The birthday person gets to pose in a beautifully decorated sombrero for a Polaroid photo which they post on their wall. Hacienda offers a separate party space near the back of the restaurant; it can be a bit cramped depending on the configuration of tables, but could probably seat 20-24.
Service for a party of 6-8 is usually wonderful. Service for groups can be slow, so order cheese dip and guacamole for everyone if you have a large party.

This is one of the worst restaurants I have ever eaten in. I am from California and if can truly say that this is really sad even for a super bad tex mex operation.
The staff is terrible without any understanding of how to serve a guest much less ability to understand and speak decent English. I live in this area and am most sad that they are taking such a great location to put out such horrible cheeze wiz food that would be embarrassing even for a badly ran Taco Bell. If you want even slightly close to Mexican go elsewhere or buy a TV dinner.
