Dinner Tuesday through Saturday, live music Wednesdays. A personal favorite. Chef/owner team Daniel Briggs and George McMillan III feature "creative American cuisine" in an elegant yet relaxed atmosphere, with an ever-changing menu of seafood, meat and game with regional and international influences, and friendly, enthusiastic service. Classics such as vial piccata but also more innovative fare on a menu that changes daily according to what's fresh and available. Great place for a drink, as well, with ever-changing and affordable wines by the glass. While it's known as a neighborhood restaurant, this is worth a trip from other parts of town.

This is where you go for no disappointments. For every special occasion, we always end up going to Daniel George instead of trying something different. The reason why... there's nothing better. Most recently, I had their scallops while my fiance had lamb. It was incredible. We finished off the night with their wonderful lava cake, and a chocolate martini. If nothing else, people should go just for the lava cake! Also, the staff is always very attentive and helpful in making decisions on food-wine pairings. I've been to many restaurants in the Birmingham area and nothing is better than Daniel George.
My wife and I had a wonderful dinner at daniel george last night. Service, wine, food, and coffee were outstanding. We both had a fish meal that was perfectly cooked and presented. The waitress was pleasant, helpful, but not intrusive. The dinning experience at daniel george is near perfect.(May 2004)
I've eaten at Daniel George dozens of times since the day they opened and in all those outings the harshest criticism is that one time and one time only my soup was SLIGHTLY on the tepid side. Always good, creative and interesting approach to the food and Daniel and George and their crew simply could not be nicer.
