Went to Cobb Lane with my girlfriend a few short months ago. Food was wonderful but I do have to say the Pork Tenderloin Medallions was very good, but was so sweet they didn't blend well with the side items.. but the Feta Casserole and the Grilled Chicken Breast with white bar-be-que is amazing.(November 2006)

My husband and I attempted to have lunch at Cobb Lane today. There were barely any diners at the restaurant. We waited for an hour for our food. Several custormers came and went while we sat there and waited. We only ordered a salad and a sandwich. Our waitress never checked on us or explained the delay. It took so long that we had to go inside and ask for our meals to go because I had to return to work. No one offered any apology or explanation or seemed the least bit concerned that we were unhappy. And to top it off, my salad, which I ate later at my office, was not very good. You'd think they would get a Cobb Salad that took an hour right.

I've lived in Birmingham for about 3 years, I'm still in the process of exploring different restaurants in and around the city. A friend of mine had told me that I had to try Cobb Lane, so my girlfriend and I went last Friday Night. We were both absolutely amazed when we arrived. We sat outside in what they called their courtyard, It was the most romantic dinner I think my girlfriend and I have ever had. The food was great, we could have sat there all night and been happy. I was so impressed, that I've been looking up the history of the place on the internet. I highly recommend it!!!

An overall terrible dining experience. My wife and I went to Cobb Lane Sunday after church with our 18-month-old, and our aunt and uncle. The service was friendly, but negligent; I had to take it upon myself to ask for anything such as refills, or even the check. It took almost an hour to get our food. By the time it did get there, the eggs were rubbery, the grits were hard, and my wife's shrimp-and-grits had to be sent back because they were stone cold. (Sending the dish back was another 15-minute wait.) Meanwhile, our 18-month-old girl had several meltdowns during the process of excessive waiting.
They were nice enough to remove the shrimp and grits from the bill. The only reason I am writing this negative review now is because the service was noticeably slow the last time we went there. It pains me to do so, because Cobb Lane is a Birmingham icon, and the ambiance is very inviting, but they need to get their act together before I will go back.

My wife and I have been huge fans of Cobb Lane since before we can remember. We have eaten their once a month for years. Each time, the service, the food and the atmosphere have been perfect. The she-crab soup just rocks me. However, the last time we tried to have Brunch, we ended up leaving before we could order. We sat for more than 15 minutes waiting for anyone to notice us. So, we decided they were too busy to take care of us, and we left. I they were maybe at 1/4 capacity that morning. But regardless, we will go back. But the last visit left a bad taste in our mouth.
