Saffron Grill

4524 Southlake Parkway, Suite 7 (Hoover, off Valleydale Road near I-65)
987-2030
A 2007 Birmingham News City Scene review noted just a few weeks after its opening, "Like its spice namesake, Saffron Grill is colorful, inviting and a bit pricey." Reviewer Fletcher Harvey praised the tomato stack appetizer, Ahi tuna seasoned with coriander and sesame seeds served over coconut jasmine rice, New Zealand lollipop lamb chops with couscous and rosemary mind cream sauce, and tiramisu and pineapple rippini desserts. However, seafood dishes were all disappointing, with "rubbery and distasteful" shrimp on the polenta appetizer, shrimp and scallops "disturbing in taste and texture" on the entrees. Lunch and dinner, full bar, reservations suggested.

I visited Saffron Grill last week and I thought it was a great experience. The restaurant is small and cozy, the service was great, and the food was fantastic. My server made great recommendations from the menu, and the wine list was extensive. A great place to grab a cocktail or take a date! They also have a good range of prices - from $12-$32 on the dinner menu. Good variety and a very interesting new local restaurant in the Southlake area.
