Literacy Council to Feature Stitt as Author
The Literacy Council's first featured author in its 2009 Signature Series is world-renowned Birmingham chef Frank Stitt in an event next week.
The Signature Series, sponsored by Alabama Power Company, brings three prominent authors to Birmingham for private cocktail receptions each year. Patrons spend the evening with one of America’s most fascinating authors and receive a signed first edition of the author’s latest work.
Past authors include Richard North Patterson, Rick Bragg, Delta Burke, Shelley Stewart, Dixie Carter, Mark Childress, Charlton Heston, Howell Raines, and Tracy Chevalier.
The first event with Frank Stitt is Wednesday, May 6th at 6:30 p.m. Stitt, who is a recipient of the James Beard Best Chef in the Southeast Award, and was recently nominated for James Beard Best Chef in America, is owner of four restaurants including Highlands Bar & Grill, Bottega Restaurant, Bottega Café, and Chez Fonfon. He recently released his second cookbook, Frank Stitt’s Bottega Favorita: A Southern Chef’s Love Affair with Italian Food.
