Upcoming Food Events
The Levite Jewish Community Center is hosting its sixth annual Jewish Food Festival this Sunday, Nov. 9, from 11-3 p.m. There is an area for the children to play, a gift shop for adults and kids, and of course, the food, such as brisket, kugel, corned beef, pastrami, falafel, matzo ball soup, hummus, black and white cookies, Dr. Brown's soda, and chopped liver. Click here for more information on the menu.
John's City Diner downtown is hosting a four-course wine dinner Nov. 11 at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $70 per person plus tax and gratuity. Call 322-6014. It will feature Tax and Stag's Leap wines. Click here for the menu in pdf.
If you're looking ahead to Thanksgiving, Veranda on Highland will be offering a special Thanksgiving menu from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.; for $25 you choose one each from a special selection of appetizers, entrees and desserts. If it were me, I'd start out with the turtle soup (or maybe the smoked rabbit and brased greens gumbo), then have a roasted turkey with andouille country dressing (or oyster dressing); and finish up with praline cheesecake, or maybe pumpkin pie with egg nog anglaise. Click here for the menu; call 939-5551.
