Mark Calendar for Greek & Middle Eastern Festivals
The 35th Annual Greek Food Festival is Sept. 27-29 at the Holy Trinity-Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral (the country's seventh-oldest Greek Orthodox parish). Enjoy plates of souvlaki (kebab), pastichio (baked pasta with bechamel sauce and minced meat), gyro, spanakopita (spinach pie), tiropita (cheese pie), Greek salads, and other delicacies right there or take home dinner for the family from the convenient drive-through service. Relax with a Greek coffee and loukoumathes or baklava. Beyond the food, there will be a Greek market offering food, art and jewelry, and a Greek band performing for dancers. You also can get meat pies, spinach pies, Arabic salad, kibbee sandwiches, falafel sandwiches, Middle Eastern pastries and more.
