In the location of the former Broadway BBQ, now owned by the local maker of Saw's Sauce. They're continuing the stuffed taters Broadway's was known for. Pulled pork, smoked chicken, ribs. In a June 2009 City Scene review, Fletcher Harvey called it "an impressive barbecue contender," with a "menu as basic as the decor." The style, Harvey says, "might be termed 'Bamalina,' indicating influences of North Carolina and Alabama." The house sauce is a thin, sweet, vinegar-based Carolina-style sauce, but there's also a thicker, more tomato-ey version for Alabama palates, he writes. And smoked chicken is served with a North-Alabama-style white sauce. However, he says, the flavor of the meat stands up quite well on its own, even without sauce. From the sides, macaroni and cheese was "singularly good," followed closely by the vinegary potato salad. Banana pudding, however, was a "major disappointment."

The mac and cheese is definitely their prize dish. It's worth a trip or a take out order just to sample the mac and cheese. The barbecue is good and the rest is just so-so.
My wife and I ate there a couple of weeks ago. The BBQ was just OK - not good enough to make a special trip from Hoover. The beans OTOH were awful. They tasted like they were just poured from a Van Camps can.
Tin Top remains my favorire.
joe does not know bbq this is the best in town must try!
White BBQ Chicken Sandwich is incredible. Ribs are very good. Definately one of my favorite BBQ joints.
FINALLY! I was told that Alabama had good BBQ, but you people are wrong. For the past 3 years I have not had one BBQ experience were the meat was not hard and dry, the sauce was not too hot and thin and everything on the menu tasted like kerosene; until SAWS. This is the best BBQ in town. There is no competition. The meat is plump, juicy and sweet, the sauce is fantastic, the white sauce must be experienced. The macaroni and cheese was fantastic. The down-side, the price; way too expensive. The lunch combo is $9 and that is for a small hamburger bun and a little bit of meat. One thing SAWS must do is get the prices down or make the portions bigger. If you want really good BBQ stop "Dreaming" and head to SAWS.
